Bye-Laws

Bye-Laws

1. No unauthorised person may pick, cut or remove any bloom, plant, shrub or tree within the Enclosure, nor place any additional plants within the Garden.

2. All types of ball games are prohibited, except for use of a soft ball with children of six years or less – and under close supervision of a responsible adult.

3. No bicycles or tricycles may be ridden in the Garden.

4. Children must at all times be properly supervised by an adult, and must be prevented from causing damage to any part of the Garden. There must be no improper use of play equipment, which is designed for small children. For their own safety, children must be kept away from the work areas and not allowed to climb the gates and railings.

5. Only registered dogs may be brought into the Enclosure. Dogs must be properly supervised by their owners at all times, who must carry a lead for immediate use if so requested by other residents. Throwing of balls or other objects for dogs is not permitted. Owners must clean up after their dogs should they foul any part of the Enclosure, and bags deposited in the labelled bins or removed from the Garden. Dogs that cause a continuing nuisance will be banned from the Garden.

6. All personal litter must be removed from the Garden upon leaving. It is an offence to use the dog litter boxes for ordinary rubbish.

7. No private party of more than ten (10) people is allowed except with the prior written approval of the Hon. Secretary, and under such terms as the Sub-Committee may establish.

8. Portable barbecues are allowed, but must be placed either on the gravel paths or the cement panels in front of the garden benches. Barbecues must not be left unattended, and along with charcoal residue must be removed from the Garden after use.

9. Toys and other items left in the Garden will be removed. Bicycles attached to the railings will also be removed. Permanent garden furniture, railings, locks and the gardening sheds are the property of the Committee and it is an offence to cause damage to any of these.

10. Portable radios, music players and other broadcast devices of any sort must not be used except with headphones.

11. Residents are cautioned to be aware of the gate operation hours, as the magnetic locks operate automatically. When the gates are in operation, care must be taken to ensure the magnet engages firmly when shutting the gate.

12. Jogging is not permitted before 06.30 am, nor after dark.

13. Keyfobs remain the property of the BGGC, and are provided for the personal use of the authorised holder. The fob must always be returned to the Hon. Secretary when a resident moves away, at which point the deposit will be refunded.

14. General Information: All authorised members are expected to fully observe these Bye-Laws, a copy of which will always be provided with the keyfob. Parents will at all times be held responsible for their children, even when not present with them in the Garden. Residents who consistently ignore these Bye-Laws must accept that under the Act of 1851, the Sub-Committee is provided with remedies to restrict access.
